Introducing: Clare Parslow & Jenny Lewis

"By faith we bought a bus we could not drive,
Started a business we did not know how to run,
In a craft we had not learnt how to do yet"
The rest is history.......

In 2002 we received a vision to 'Criss Cross Australia in Prayer & Song', heaven knows our country needs it right now. A lot of planning and hard work has gone into transforming the vision into a reality. To carry this out we knew we needed to start a business to help support us whilst we travel, as we believe that we should be going into communities to give and sow into the community not with our hands out to receive. (To find out more about our Ministry Click here)

Through divine providence in 2007 our business 'Garments and Gadgets' was formed, which is a business based predominantly around felt and its related products. Being a grazier all her life, Clare took to this like a duck to water and is very pleased to now be working with the 'clean' end of the sheep and working with the natural wool fibre that she has been so passionate about all her life. Jenny has always had a love for craft and creativity so is also very excited about it all and feeling right at home with having an expression of ideas. Through our fashion label Bisheila we are constantly working on developing fine felt apparel, accessories and works of art, along with an extensive range of giftware and souvenirs, all hand made right here in Australia by us using natural fibres. To see our products in this range got to the Felted Garments page.

One of the avenues this business has taken is to set up felting exhibitions in a town for a period of time where we exhibit, sell and make fine felted garments, accessories and works of art. We also conduct felting workshops teaching the varying felting techniques to others.

We demonstrate and speak at varying groups such as Embroidery Guilds, and Probus Groups etc. We find it is a great way to educate people in the wonderful art of felt making and its possabilities and it makes for a nice activity for the groups. We also bring some of our stock  along for easy 'in house' shopping. Should you wish us to demonstrate and/or speak at your group, gathering, fellowship or  function, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The 'gadgets' side of the business is an ever expanding range of nick nacks and products that we find useful ourselves and thus like to make them available to others. We believe that we should take care of what we are given so are passionate to promote natural products that not only are good products but are 'good for you' so we have also included a range of personal care products that are made of natural olive oil for its health benefits & absence of harmful ingredients.

We also carry an extensive range of craft related equipment and products for the hobbyist through to the professional.

The 'song' part of the vision is our other passion which is country gospel music, to find out more about that hat go to our Truesome page and have a look around.

The Bus
In 2005 we purchased our workhorse... and new home. The bus is a Kassbhorer Setra which aptly means 'load bearer'. It was imported from Germany to Australia by Kirklands back in 1988 and has been in the service of four owners (including a stint with 'Billabong' clothing company) before her latest assignment with us. With motorhome weight restrictions and our need to operate a full time ministry and business on the road, it is not surprising that this type of vehicle is about the only thing that would enable us to do all that we do both with the weight aspect and space. We had the trailer custom made to carry our Suzuki whilst travelling, and as it was made out of 50ml Bondor (coolroom panel) for insulation, it also doubles as a spare guest room or workroom when on location. The trailer functions as the power supply for the outfit with 14 solar panels on the roof enabling us to be totally self powered,  and it also has extra legs for the tailgate, so it can used as a portable stage for concerts in remote locations.
Everything including the kitchen sink...
